ALL FOR ME GROG

Chorus
Well it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog
It's all for me beer and tobacco
For I spent all me tin on the lassies drinking gin
Far across the western ocean I must wander

Where are me boots, me noggin', noggin' boots?
They're all gone for beer and tobacco
For the heels they are worn out and the toes are kicked about
And the soles are looking out for better weather

Chorus

Where is me shirt, my noggin', noggin' shirt?
It's all gone for beer and tobacco
For the collar is all worn, and the sleeves they are all torn
And the tail is looking out for better weather

Chorus

I'm sick in the head and I haven't been to bed
Since first I came ashore from me slumber
For I spent all me dough on the lassies don't you know
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

IRISH ROVER

In the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and six
We set sail from the coal quay of Cork
We were sailing away with a cargo of bricks
For the grand city hall in New York
We'd an elegant craft, it was rigged fore and aft
And how the trade winds did drive her
She had twenty-three masts and she stood several blasts
And they called her the Irish Rover

We had one million bags of the best Sligo rags
We had two million barrels of bone
We had three million sides of old blind horses hides
We had four million barrels of stone
We had five million hogs, six million dogs
Seven million barrels of porter
We had eight million bales of old nanny goats tails
In the hold of the Irish Rover

There was Barney Magee from the banks of the Lee
There was Hagan from County Tyrone,
There was Jimmy McGurk who was scared stiff of work
And a chap from Westmeath called Malone.
There was Slugger O'Toole who was drunk as a rule
And fighting Bill Treacy from Dover
And your man, Mick McCann from the banks of the Bann
Was the skipper of the Irish Rover

We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And our ship lost its way in the fog
The whole of the crew was reduced down to two
Just myself and the captain's old dog
Then the ship struck a rock, O Lord what a shock
And nearly tumbled over…
She turned nine times around and the poor old dog was drowned
I'm the last on the Irish Rover.

LET HIM GO, LET HIM TARRY

chorus:
Let him go, let him tarry, let him sink or let him swim;
He doesn't care for me, and I don't care for him
He can go and find another, and I hope she'll bring him joy
For I'm goin' to marry a far nicer boy.

Farewell to cold winter, now that summer's come at last;
Nothing have I gained, but my true love I have lost.
I'll sing and I'll be happy like a bird upon the tree
For since he deceived me, I care no more for he.

chorus

He wrote me a letter saying he was very bad,
I sent him back an answer saying I was very glad.
He wrote me another saying he was well and strong,
But I care no more for him than the ground he walks upon.

chorus

Some of his friends had a good kind wish for me,
Others of his friends, they could hang me from a tree;
But soon I'll let them see my love, and soon I'll let them know
That I can get a new sweetheart on any ground I go.

chorus

He can go to his old mother, now, and set her mind at ease,
For she's a mean old woman, and very hard to please,
It's slighting me and talking ill is all she's ever done
Since I was courtin' her great big ugly son.

RAGLAN ROAD

On Raglan Road of an autumn day I saw her first and knew

   Don't you forget my u--ni--corn.

Old Noah was there and he answered the callin'
And he finished up the ark as the rain started fallin'
And he marched in the animals two by two
And he sung out as they went through
Chorus
"Hey Lord, I got you green alligators and long neck geese
Some humpty back camels and chimpanzees
Some cats, and rats, and elephants but Lord I’m so forlourn
   I just can't see no u--ni--corns."

Then Noah looked out through the driving rain,
Them unicorns were hiding - playing silly games,
Kickin' and spashin' while the rain was pourin'
   Oh them silly unicorns.
Chorus
There was green alligators and long neck geese

Noah cried close the doors cause the rain was pourin’
And we just can’t wait for no unicorns

The ark started moving it drifted with the tide,
Them unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried,
And the water came down and sort of floated them away,
That's why you've never seen a unicorn to this very day.
Chorus

Wild Rover

I've been a wild rover for many a year
And I spent all me money on whiskey and beer
But now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more

And it's no nay never...
No nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more

I went into an alehouse I used to frequent
And I told the landlady me money was spent
I asked her for credit, but she answered me, "Nay"
Such a custom as yours I can get any day.

Then out of me pocket I took sovereigns bright
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight
She said, "I have the whiskey and wine of the best
And the words that I said, they were only in jest."

I'll go home to my parents and confess what I've done
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son
And if they caress me as oft times before
Then I never will play the wild rover no more
